What Does a Website Template Cost Beyond the Purchase Price?

When you find a website template you love, the price on the product page is an obvious place to start.

But it is not always the complete cost of launching and running your website.

For an apartment, villa, or guesthouse owner, the total may include a website plan, a domain, optional services, and the work needed to prepare your content. Some of these are ongoing expenses. Others are one-time purchases—or things you already have.

That does not mean a template needs to become an expensive project. It means you should understand what you are buying, what you need separately, and what is optional before you commit.

Start With Three Separate Budgets

Rather than treating “the website” as one purchase, divide your budget into three parts:

Budget

What it covers

The template

The design, structure, and features listed for your chosen product.

Website operation

The services needed to run the website in the way you intend, such as a paid Wix Studio plan and domain.

Preparation and implementation

Your content, photographs, setup work, and any additional help you choose.

This makes it easier to compare options without confusing a template purchase with a fully completed, managed website.

1. The Template: Your Starting Structure

Your template purchase gives you the product described on its page.

That may include prepared layouts, accommodation pages, CMS collections, responsive design, and implementation resources. The exact inclusions depend on the template and edition you choose.

Before purchasing, read beyond the demo’s appearance. Find out:

  • Which pages are included.

  • How accommodation information is managed.

  • How the booking or enquiry route works.

  • What you can personalize.

  • Which instructions and support are included.

  • Whether implementation work is included or available separately.

Dream Web Design offers hospitality templates alongside additional services such as Template Installation, a VIP Package, and Template Customization. These are distinct options, so review the scope of your purchase rather than assuming the template price covers every setup task.

A template is a prepared foundation. It is not automatically a domain, a platform subscription, a photography package, or a done-for-you launch.

2. A Wix Studio Plan for Your Own Domain

If your Dream Web Design template is built in Wix Studio, the relevant paid website subscription is a Wix Studio plan.

You can begin building in Wix Studio without purchasing a plan. However, upgrading is required to connect a custom domain and remove Wix Studio branding.

This is a separate expense from buying the template.

Choose for the Functions You Will Use

You do not necessarily need the most expensive plan.

Consider whether your website will:

  • Present your accommodation and link to an external booking provider.

  • Collect enquiries through forms.

  • Accept payments through the website.

  • Use apps or features with additional requirements.

Wix distinguishes between Studio plans that cannot accept payments and plans that support payment acceptance. A website that sends visitors to an external reservation provider has different requirements from one that processes transactions itself.

The template edition name does not choose your Wix plan for you. “Starter” or “Premium” in a Dream Web Design product name describes that product—not the subscription you must purchase from Wix.

For current options, use the official guide: Choosing a Studio Plan.

Look at the Amount Charged, Not Only the Monthly Equivalent

A yearly plan may be presented using a monthly equivalent while being charged for the full year at once. Wix offers different billing periods, including monthly and yearly subscriptions.

Before paying, read:

  • The billing period.

  • The total charged at checkout.

  • Any introductory discount.

  • The renewal terms.

  • Applicable taxes.

A lower displayed monthly equivalent is not the same as a smaller payment today.

3. Your Domain Name

Your domain is your website address, such as www.yourproperty.com.

If you already own a suitable domain, you may not need another one. You will still need to maintain its registration and arrange the correct connection to your website.

If you are buying a new domain, include both the initial registration and future renewals in your budget.

“Free for One Year” Does Not Mean Free Permanently

Selected first-time yearly or multi-year Wix Studio plan purchases include a voucher for one year of a new domain registration. Eligibility and conditions apply; it is not a general promise that every domain is included with every plan.

After the covered period, the domain renews at the applicable regular price. The voucher does not cover renewal of an existing domain.

Before registering, check:

  • Whether you qualify for a voucher.

  • Whether your chosen extension is eligible.

  • The renewal price.

  • Any optional privacy services.

  • Whether you are purchasing more than one year.

Wix notes that domain renewal costs can vary by extension, currency, registration period, privacy options, and applicable taxes.

4. Business Email, If You Want It

A domain-based address such as hello@yourproperty.com is another service to consider.

Wix Studio site plans do not include a business email account. A business email subscription is purchased separately.

However, you may already have a suitable email service. Do not buy a second subscription simply because you are creating a new website.

Ask:

  • Do I already use an email address on this domain?

  • Who provides it?

  • Do I want to keep that provider?

  • How many mailboxes do I actually need?

Connecting the website and purchasing a mailbox are different tasks. If you keep an existing business email, follow the relevant provider instructions when changing domain settings.

5. Booking Services and Payment Costs

Your booking approach can affect the total cost, but your own website does not automatically require a new booking system.

For a Dream Web Design Starter setup, you can use an external reservation link or an enquiry form.

These choices create different responsibilities.

If You Keep an External Booking Provider

Your website introduces the property and sends visitors to the provider to complete the reservation.

Any charges associated with that provider remain governed by your agreement with it. A reservation completed through an OTA does not become commission-free because the guest started on your website.

When budgeting, distinguish between:

  • The cost of operating your website.

  • The cost of using your existing booking channel.

The website may not create a new booking-service expense, but it does not remove the existing one.

If You Use an Enquiry Form

A form lets guests send a request. You then need a process for replying, confirming availability, explaining conditions, and completing any reservation arrangements.

The form itself is not a booking engine.

Even when this is a simple setup, include the time needed to manage enquiries. Avoid choosing it solely because it appears to have fewer software costs.

If You Add a Different Reservation Setup

Before purchasing another booking tool, establish whether it introduces:

  • A separate subscription.

  • Payment-processing charges.

  • Integration or setup work.

  • Ongoing management requirements.

These costs depend on the service and configuration you choose. Confirm them with the provider rather than assuming they are included in the template or Wix plan.

6. Photographs and Written Content

A template provides a place for your content. It does not replace the need for accurate material about your property.

You may already have suitable photographs and descriptions. If so, preparing them may mainly require your time.

If not, you might choose to budget for:

  • Property photography.

  • Image selection and editing.

  • Accommodation copywriting.

  • Translation.

  • Logo or brand materials.

These are not automatically required paid services. The question is whether your existing material is suitable for the presentation you want.

Before hiring anyone, identify the actual gap. You may need photographs of one apartment rather than a complete new shoot, or help refining descriptions rather than writing every page from the beginning.

Legal content also needs to reflect your own business. If you need professional advice to establish appropriate policies, treat that as a separate requirement—not something the template can determine for you.

7. Your Time—or Help With Implementation

Even when you handle the setup yourself, implementation has a cost in attention and time.

You will need to:

  • Prepare and enter your information.

  • Replace sample photographs and branding.

  • Update contact and booking destinations.

  • Work through the supplied instructions.

  • Review the website on different screen sizes.

  • Publish and test the result.

There is no useful universal launch-time promise for every owner. Your starting material, familiarity with Wix Studio, and planned changes all affect the work.

When Paying for Help May Be Worth Considering

Additional assistance may suit you if you have the content ready but cannot set aside time for implementation, or if your requirements go beyond the supplied structure.

Dream Web Design lists installation, VIP, and customization services as additional options. Check their current descriptions and confirm the tasks included before choosing.

For any implementation service, clarify:

  • Who supplies the photographs and copy.

  • Whether content entry is included.

  • Which brand adjustments are covered.

  • Whether domain or third-party configuration is included.

  • What testing is performed.

  • What happens when you request work outside the agreed scope.

Support that explains how to use a template is different from a service that performs the work for you.

Dream Web Design support concerns the templates Dream Web Design sells. General Wix account, subscription, and domain questions should be handled using Wix’s official resources or Wix Support.

8. Optional Apps and Extra Features

A website can become more expensive when optional features are added without a clear purpose.

Before adding another app or service, ask:

What task will this solve for my business or my guests?

Then establish whether the function is already available in your chosen setup and whether the additional service has its own subscription.

Wix accounts can contain separate subscriptions for site plans, domains, business email, apps, and other services. These should not be treated as one bundled payment unless your purchase explicitly says so.

You do not need to add every feature at launch. A clear accommodation presentation and a working booking or enquiry route may be a more manageable starting point than several systems you are not ready to maintain.

9. Ongoing Care and Marketing

After launch, allow for keeping the website accurate.

That may involve your own time rather than a maintenance contract:

  • Replacing outdated photographs.

  • Updating practical information.

  • Changing booking links.

  • Revising policies.

  • Testing forms and important buttons after changes.

Marketing is another separate decision. A template purchase does not automatically include ongoing SEO work, social content, advertising, or a supply of new visitors.

You do not need to purchase all of those services to launch. But if your business plan depends on them, include them in your wider budget rather than expecting the template price to cover them.

Build Your Budget Around Your Own Situation

Use a simple worksheet before you buy:

Do I need to buy it?

Initial cost

Renewal or ongoing cost

Dream Web Design template

Choose the appropriate product.

Enter current price.

Check purchase terms.

Wix Studio plan

Required for your custom-domain website.

Enter total checkout amount.

Enter renewal amount and billing period.

Domain

You may already own one.

Registration or eligible voucher.

Domain renewal.

Business email

Only if you need a new service.

Provider’s price.

Subscription renewal.

Booking service

Depends on your reservation approach.

Any setup charge.

Subscription, commission, or other applicable fees.

Photographs and copy

You may prepare these yourself.

Any agreed production cost.

Future updates, if commissioned.

Implementation help

Optional, according to your needs.

Agreed service price.

Only if a continuing service is arranged.

Extra apps

Only where needed.

Any purchase or setup charge.

Any subscription.

For a clearer comparison, calculate both:

  • Your launch budget: what you expect to pay to get the website ready.

  • Your normal annual operating budget: what remains once introductory offers and one-time work are excluded.

This prevents a first-year discount from becoming your long-term cost assumption.

Avoid Buying the Same Thing Twice

Before purchasing another service, review what you already have.

You may already own your domain, use a business email provider, have access to suitable photographs, or operate a booking platform you intend to keep.

An existing Wix plan also deserves attention before buying another one: verify whether it is suitable for the intended Wix Studio site and what any reassignment or upgrade would involve.

The goal is not to replace every existing service. It is to build a coherent setup around your actual needs.

Choose With the Complete Picture in View

The template price matters. So does understanding what happens after the purchase.

A suitable template can give you a prepared structure and a clear starting point. Your complete budget should then account for the services you need, the content you must prepare, and the amount of implementation you want to manage yourself.

You do not have to choose the most complex setup—or purchase every optional service—to create a professional website.

Start with what your accommodation business needs now. Read the inclusions, identify the separate costs, and make sure you understand the recurring commitments.

Explore the Dream Web Design templates, review what is included, and choose the starting point that fits your property and your budget.
